Trader Joe’s, Morgan Hill, CA

Building Type: Retail
Architect: ARC Inc Architects
Area: 1,500ft2
Project Dates: June 2007 – December 2007
Description:
Brand new development of popular retail store, including construction of a new public street

About the Project:

Trader Joe’s contacted R3 Builders to help them build out their first store constructed from the ground up. The site was located on virgin land, and required the development of a public street to provide access for shoppers. As an added challenge, the store was scheduled to open 6 months from the start of construction. To meet this rigorous schedule, we took on a large administrative role, working closely with the city of Morgan Hill to get the correct paperwork in place, and ensuring that all of the requirements were met and that all fees were paid throughout the process. Despite a number of challenges over the months, we kept to the schedule, building the entire store and completing the interior in under six months, enabling Trader Joe’s to open on its target date.

“R3 Builders is outstanding. Whenever I need something done, I pick up the phone and they take care of it. They’re a great team, very professional and timely, and they work well with others. Quite frankly, they make my life a whole lot easier.”
